Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do before my cleaning team arrives? To make our cleaning services more efficient, we ask that you go on "clutter patrol". This includes picking up clothing, toys, dishes, and other household items. Taking a few minutes to prepare for your cleaning allows us to serve you better.
Who will clean my home? A team of three or four cleaning professionals will clean your home. One of the team members will be a (supervisor) team leader, who, in addition to assisting with the cleaning, will guide the team and perform an inspection at the end of the visit.
How long will it take to clean my home? Every home is different. Size, condition, depth of dirt, and clutter will dictate the time it takes to clean your home. We recommend that you go on clutter patrol before our arrival.
Do I have to be home during my home cleanings?Because the majority of our cleanings occur Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm, most of our customers are not home. You can leave a hidden key. Some customers just give us an extra key. We keep customer keys in a lock box unattached to customer files.
What happens if I need to reschedule my cleaning or skip a cleaning appointment: We ask that you please provide at least 48 hours notice for all cancelled appointments. Once we take a reservation, we hold that time slot open for you and turn away any other potential clients in order to ensure your time frame. We will gladly reschedule your service to accommodate your needs. If the appointment is not cancelled and we arrive for your service or you do not give us at least 48 hours notice, a lock out/cancellation fee of $40.00 will apply. Exceptions to this policy will be made for emergency situations.
How do I pay for my cleaning service? "Cleaning by Karen" accepts checks and cash payments. Please make checks payable to "Cleaning by Karen". Payment is expected at the time of service and will be collected by the cleaning team. Please leave payment on kitchen counter as it is easy for the team to locate.
Is it O.K. to leave a note for the cleaning team? Yes. Feel free to communicate any specifics or special information about your home for the day of service.
What if something is broken? Unfortunately, breakage happens occasionally with even the most experienced and conscientious cleaning professional. If an incident occurs and you are home, the cleaner will notify on the spot. If you are not home, a note along with the item in question will be left behind. In either situation, please contact our office as soon as possible so we can discuss the repair, replacement, or in some cases proper compensation for the broken item.
What about pets? "Cleaning by Karen" is accustomed to working in homes with pets. We absolutely adore animals. If you feel confident the pet will not harm or intimidate the cleaning team, the feel free to leave your pet in his or her normal routine. If you are unsure if your pet will react to us being in your home, we ask that you please make arrangements to have them secured. .
